[SHOPPING EDITION]

Now when you see shopping you probably think "ohh she is going to say H&M, Saks Fifth Ave., Tory Burch, and Macys"... Let me just say first that Yes, I did shop at those places but this is about the real shopping in NY. The places nobody will ever tell you about, the one-of-a-find's, the vintage/consignment, street artists- real New York shopping.
Let me just break it down by the areas of my favorite stores that I found those unique things that NOBODY will have. Then, I will tell you where to find those local street artists that are making the most amazing pieces that are to die for!

My favorite piece of jewelry I got was from Shaya NYC, Inc. he is located on Prince Street during the days and sets up a little stand next to other artists. He names all of his pieces after women. I'd describe them as Beautiful and simple. Shay can also be found on www.shayanyc.com

I found the most amazing bracelets at a stand in one of the market streets that NY has every weekend. It was called Tarmet Byzantinian Jewelry they are located on 345 Lafayette St. All of their pieces are hand made in India! Incorporating beautiful fine fabrics with precious gems. They can also be found on www.brownyintl.com

I found another beautiful designer in Brooklyn and I sadly cannot remember her name. I will find her though!

Here is a list of vintage shops that I found most amazing:
-Honeysuckle & Hearts Vintage
-Tokyo Joe, Inc ( East 11th St.)
-Da Designs (Brooklyn)
-Eye Candy (Lafayette)
-Stock Vintage (East 13th)
-Angela's Vintage Boutique (East 11th)
-Beauty Crisis (East 7th)
-Fab 208 (East 7th)
-Tokio 7 (East 7th)
-Cadillac Castle (East 9th)

I'll start with obviously the most important... FOOD!

I have to admit one of my favorite things about NY is the food! The best part of it all is that I am a HUGE breakfast fan and like going to church on Sunday's, BRUNCH is almost a requirement on the weekends, it's amazing! I hope you all get a chance one day to try some of these places...simply delicious!

-If I do not list suggestions that is because I haven't been there but heard great reviews

Top 3...

1. ABC Kitchen- it's a local organic restaurant and everything has a special touch. I know I said burger above but it's not your normal burger the sauce and everything on it are unique.
2. Momofuku Milk Bar- all of the desserts here can only be described as melt in your mouth. I am obsessed with the Cake truffles... picture cookie dough that taste like cake batter in a ball surrounded by a crumbly cobbler esque shell. YUM!
3. Max Brenner- all of the food here is delicious but I think what I like the most about the restaurant is is it all about chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. Everything has a little touch of chocolate in some way shape or form- it makes you smile :)

Stay tuned for the Shopping Edition :)

Is it slacking or just becoming a regular?

I'm sorry fam for not updating my blog! I think it honestly is because I am getting use to my life here! I feel like a regular more and more each day. It's going to weird when I come home from this fast paced, aggressive, lively, city that never sleeps--lifestyle! I am so blessed to have had this experience though I will never be the same again after my time spent here in NY, and I mean that in a good way! I have grown so much as a person inside and out. When you spend about 85% of your time alone you really get to know a lot about yourself. I couldn't be more happy, comfortable, or confident in my own skin. When I come home it will be overwhelming for both me and my family & friends. What I have seen, done, and experienced here in NY will be hard to explain and nobody will ever understand it. I hope that when I return people can take in the "new" me and embrace it- because I love who I have become. I look at the world differently now and appreciate a lot more about Nebraska--being here was life changing. I believe that everyone should do an internship or study abroad while in college, doing this prepares you for more that you ever thought you'd need to be prepared for! I am excited to return home with the knowledge I have gained here. It will definitely be bittersweet to leave the life i have been living here in New York City, but I'll always be a Midwest girl at heart even though NY has me now! :)

I <3 New York.
